As one of the top supermodels in the world, Miranda Kerr can afford to hire someone to run around after her.

But the down-to-earth Australian ran her own errands yesterday as she pottered around New York, not long after jetting in from Switzerland.

The busy 28-year-old was spotted taking an iconic yellow taxi to the doctor's office before taking her beloved Yorkshire Terrier Frankie for a stroll.

And she appeared to have picked up some tips from her years on the catwalk, donning a stylish black and white patterned maxi dress dress, which had a large split up the side.

Onlookers were treated to a view of her slim pins as she exited the cab and the dress rode up.

There was no sign of Miranda's husband, actor Orlando Bloom, or their son Flynn, five months.

The family have been to a number of countries recently, including Paris where the model walked during Fashion Week, and New Zealand, where Orlando is filming the latest Lord of the Rings movie, The Hobbit.

They have also been spotted in other parts of Europe, the UK and Miranda's native Australia,

But she looked happy to be back home in the U.S. yesterday.

Earlier, she beamed as she walked through the terminal at JFK airport with her little boy in her arms.

The tiny tot shared a giggle with his mother as she cooed and cuddled her precious son.

Meanwhile Miranda is about to make her big come back to the Victoria's Secret catwalk, after giving birth to her son a year ago.

And for her return, she is being given a very special welcome back gift - the chance to wear a push-up bra worth $2.5m.

Recently the supermodel posed up wearing the Fantasy Treasure Bra to promote the upcoming show.

The November star-studded show will see Kanye West and Maroon 5 perform live.

Other models expected on the catwalk include Alessandra Ambrosio, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Doutzen Kroes, Chanel Iman, Lily Donaldson, Karolina Kurkova, Candice Swanepoel and Adriana Lima.
